Open till 1:30 AM on the weekends & 10 PM other nights in Clayton... I can appreciate that. The cafe is brand-new and I consider a welcome addition to the Clayton Business area. I got to pick two (sandwich, salad or soup). The Pickleman's Italian sandwich was toasted tastiness, but (I thought) fewer ingredients to add to the sandwich. The cafe salad had a descent sized 1/2 & amount of ingredients, but was just iceberg lettuce bases. Both had pickled veggies including tomatoes. The pickled tomatoes tasted much better than picked green & then turn red Styrofoam texture tomatoes from other places. Overall, good value & good flavor so I could see this being a great option when I want something a little different. The Coke Fountain Machine is a one dispenser with too many choices for me to trust on a weekday lunch rush. (pic) However, I was there late at night & liked it.

This place would get a 5th star if the acoustics weren't so poor, but that aside this is a great deli spot in the heart of Clayton. It's clean, staff is personable, and the sandwiches are fresh and GOOD. Check it out - you won't be disappointed in the food!

Another sub shop. They seem to pop up everywhere. This place does serve pizza as well. Only one size for their sandwiches. Moderately priced. Food was overall tasty but not "great". This is the best part though... they do have an incredible soft drink dispenser that allows you to pick flavors for your coke products. ie. Coke zero with lime, cherry, etc.... all through the touch screen.

I order a lot of food while I'm at Wash U. I love the Pickleman's on Laclede and decided to give these guys a shot. Big mistake. I placed an online order at 11:50 and was given a 45 minute estimate. With a 12-1 lunch hour, I imagined that it would arrive with at most ten minutes to eat. At 12:56, they still had not arrived and the lunch hour was ending. I called to cancel and gentleman first offered to cancel an order that was not mine. He then asked for my phone number, called up the order, and, with a chuckle, said they weren't even aware of the order. Yuck it up, sir. Only chance you'll get.

So I work in Clayton and Picklemans has quickly became a favorite of mine and of my workplace. We order from Picklemans easily 3 times a week or more. Sometimes multiple times in a day. The food is delicious and well priced. Best part for me? The delivery speed. Forget Jimmy Johns being freaky fast. It takes them half an hour to get me a cold sandwich. Picklemans gets me my hot food in under 15 minutes just about every time and today they got it to me in just over 5. I'm extremely impressed and had to write a review. Keep up the good work Picklemans!

I had an hour to fill yesterday, so I stopped and got a sandwich here. I intended to go to the St. Louis bread Company on Central and then saw this place so I decided to check it out. I had a BLTC sandwich toasted on a whole wheat sub bun. It was perfection! Fresh and hot. In fact so hot, I had to let it sit for a couple minutes to cool off to the point where I could pick it up to eat it. LOL The place looks clean. The staff were friendly. I highly recommend it next time you're in Clayton!

Stopped by for a late night bite last Saturday and I had a pleasant experience! Nice and friendly staff, and a wide yet easy menu to navigate! Ended up getting the walnut cranberry grilled chicken salad and the broccoli cheese soup, both of which were wonderfully prepared and delicious. Glad they had late hours, and weren't too far from the hotel!

Fast & friendly service. Subs start just above $6. Pizzas start around $12 but are delicious! My favs are the Chipotle Chicken & Buffalo Chicken pizza. Accepts credit. Offer delivery. I give it TWO thumbs up!

The cheapest meal I've had in St. Louis so far. Where else can you find a sandwich for less than 6 bucks? Plus, the quality is great and the service is quick. I will be a repeat customer!

I have only ordered delivery from this location. I get the meatball sandwich and caesar salad. Big meatballs that actually taste good unlike a generic meatball sandwich. The caesar is also tasty. They have never messed up my order. I like that I can order online. I can't speak to the location itself, but for delivery, this pickleman's is great.

Ordered a pizza. In between each topping my server put on they made an entire sandwich for someone behind me. Ten people ended up passing through the line before I got my pizza.

I never really knew the story behind Pickleman's, however I knew that they were a somewhat local franchise (born in Columbia, MO). I decided to give them a try when I was in Clayton and I was very pleased, they offer a great selection of sandwiches and pizzas, the food was good and it reminded me a lot of McAllister's. The food is moderately prices, and actually cheaper than McAllister's. Overall this is a welcome change or pace from places like Subway and Quiznos, without having to fight the crowds of McAllister's, and best of all its a semi-local business.

Roaming around with empty belly's we had to make a decision between Chipotle and Pickleman's. We went with Picklemans because it was new and looked interesting. This place is very large for a Cafe. Plenty of seating all around. You notice right away the cleanliness and neatness of this place. Food wise, They offer many different subs, sandwiches, pizzas and salads.. I am not sure if all their sandwiches are toasted but the 2 that we ordered were both toasted. I had the Buffalo Chicken and the BF had the Roasted Beef. Both were very tasty. At first you would think its just a normal sub, nothing special but after its toasted and wrapped it looks appetizing. Picleman's also has a neat Coca Cola dispenser that lets you pick from a variety of different sodas which I thought was pretty cool. Not a great choice for the indecisive people out there though. Overall this place was really good.

I work in Clayton and often have a tough time finding lunch time options. I know you are saying...crazy Lady, there are tons of choices. True, but they are also expensive. Not this place, it is very reasonably priced for a Downtown Clayton joint. The place is rather large for a cafe, plenty of seating options. Also, it is always VERY neat and clean. The food is pretty much subs, pizza and salads. It's not the biggest variety, however. Nothing too "fancy". I usually get the "pick two" Salad and a 1/2 sandwich. The veggies are always fresh and the sandwiches are toasted. Much better than Subway or Quiznos and a bit cheaper than McAllisters (which is next door)

I was in Clayton during lunch hour today, and went to Pickelman's with a couple other people. The menu is kind of a mix between a sub shop and St. Louis Bread Co. You can get subs, which is pretty much the only type of sandwich they offer, you can get salads, you can get soup, or you can get Pick 2 (1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad, 1/2 soup - pick your 2). They also have pizzas, tho, which is a nice bit of variety from all the other sub/sandwich shops. However, i went with the Pick 2. My sammich was the Italian, which was pretty good - typical salami, etc. meats, lettuce, spices, oil & vinegar, and they toast the bread. Not bad, but not unlike many other shops. Soup was pretty good. I got the tomato bisque. It was nice and creamy, with enough spice to make it interesting. Service was quick, which is good for a lunch hour. Overall, it was a decent place. Soup and sandwich made a good lunch. But to make the jump to 4 stars? Well it needs something to stand out from the crowd. And while I'd recommend Pickleman's, I can't really say you have to go there over any other good sandwich shop.
